Despite the widely-accepted view of everyone deserving equal economic, political and social rights and opportunities, the harsh realities of our world have, unfortunately, time and time again, been proven otherwise. In every facet of society there are people experiencing discrimination and prejudice, which ultimately, keep us from progressing forward. We must all work hard in order to achieve social justice by giving equal access, and opportunities to everyone; particularly to those less fortunate. For this category, we are looking for films that display such disparities in societies, and educate audiences on how and why they have come about in the first place. The wide array of social injustice issues include voting rights, access to healthcare, refugees, racism, sexism, income gap, food insecurity, etc. It would be particularly interesting to see how the COVID pandemic has impacted all of these issues that many are facing every day, and how it may have exacerbated the situation.
